I love to remind my (older) sister about her first computer science course that she took. It was on punch cards!
I'm not THAT old, but I have been involved in computer programing ever since the 'commodore 64' made home computers affordable over 20 years ago.
The roll of Computers have changed greatly since then, and the programing certainly has as well.
"The only thing that is constant in the world is change." That's a saying that applies doubly to the computer world, and keeping up is a challange that every die hard computer guru relashes in. Be inovative, be aware of what the other guy is doing, and keep up with the technology.
Computers are a tool, and simply getting them to do what you want is the escence of programing, something that hasn't changed since the punch card.
